Ricky Carmichael-The Early Years

Ricky Carmichael was born on November 27, 1979 in Clearwater, Florida. He was introduced to the sport of motocross at the tender age of five and it is all he has known from that point on.

During his early years of competition, he became very enthusiastic and motivated by his mother and father, as well as his cousins. Although he seemed to have a natural gift for the sport, he had to practice and train as hard, if not harder than any other rider. He improved very fast and devoted his life to the sport. He was home schooled and traveled the country as one of the top amateurs racer in the world.

A few years later, Rick Carmichael made his pro debut in 1996 and went on to finish 8th overall in the 125cc class. During that same year, he earned the title Rookie of The Year, by the American Motorcycle Association.


Ricky Carmichael-The Big Time

Ricky Carmichael became a full time professional motocross racer in 1996. He competed in the 125cc class where in 1998, he won every race he entered, making it his first perfect season. just one year later, in 1999, Carmichael decided to move up to the 250cc class. At first, he was not exactly on par with the seasoned veterans, but when he reworked his training ethics, Ricky Carmichael became almost unstopable.

In 2002 he became the first motocross rider in history to have a perfect motocross season, winning 24 straight outdoor national motos. Ricky Carmichael then left team Kawasaki after 10-plus years to join Team Honda as the highest paid proffesional racer to date.


Time To Retire

In 2005 Ricky Carmichael switched from Team Honda to Team Suzuki. He won them their first championship in 2006, then officially claimed his retirement at the end of 2007.

What's Next For Ricky Carmichael?

After Ricky Carmichael retired in 2007, he decided to start NASCAR racing. He is now a developmental Craftsman truck driver for Dale Earnhart Inc.. Although he is only a rookie, Carmichael certainly has the drive and desire to deo well in the sport.

Ricky's Personal Life

As an addition to the transition from motocross to NASCAR, Ricky Carmichael and his wife Ursula now have two baby twins to take care(one boy and one girl). Their names are Elise and Kadin. Carmichael and his family are currently living in Tallahasse, Florida.
